I know this subject has been dragged on about Shinn, but I feel the need to express why exactly it is that I dislike Shinn to the point of hate, and maybe it will help some of the Shinn lovers understand why some of us hate Shinn. I understand Shinn has had a trying past with his families death and all, but he goes about it the wrong way and he lets no one into his heart to help him with the pain. He just builds up hatred senselessly, something that could easily be fixed but he's being childish and insead of fixing his problems he makes them grow. Like a child he yearns for attention, he acts out eventhough he may know already his actions are rash he still does them just to grab attention; he is simply waiting for someone to slap the living cr*p out of him so he will grow up. I hate Shinn because he does not try to ease his hatred, he makes it grow into a mindless blaze or destruction and the end result is the death of good people. The worste part is that he has a proud smirk after KILLING people... Kira never smiled after killing people.. he never felt a sense of gratification of ending the lives of people, that is why he has the Freedom he uses it to end battles without casualties. So no it really doesn't matter that he hs the Freedom because he has no intent on killing and that puts Shinn at an advantage.. Shinn wants to kill Freedom, Kira doesn't he wants to end the strife, to end the war and to protect his sister and his friends as well as his girlfriend. Shinn is a lost soul that feeds off his own rage and could careless about the people he has killed. That is why I hate Shinn, he had room to better himself to understand.. but he's too blockheaded to grow as a human being, unlike Kira who did. I love Kira because he stands for everything that is right and good, he is Freedom and he wasn't always perfect, he grew from his experiences and now he's become that symbol of Freedom, of good. Shinn has become a symbol of hatred and unless his character is developed better I'm afraid all we will ever want is a prompt death for Shinn because he doesn't deserve to be a lead character if he dwells on rage and senseless bloodshed. Sorry if I offended anyone that likes Shinn, but I just had to express another view of why some of us dislike Shinn to that very unruling level of hatred. I leave you with this final state ment.
Kira = Freedom/Heaven(Good) Shinn = Hatred/Hell(Bad)
So if Kira did truely die in episode 34, that is a very sad loss for the Gundam SEED series and all hope maybe lost for further developement if the creators are thinking of relying on Shinn for developement. Hatred never ends wars.

Ok, Shinn isnt evil, full stop, its common sense, you Shinn haters are just looking at it from a very biased point of view.

1. Blows up Minerva's gun at critical point in battle.
2. Disables Shinn's firearms at 1st Orb Confrontation.
3. Indirectly the reason for Haine's death.
4. Attacks Shinn at 2nd Orb confrontation.
5. Annihilates Athrun's gundam (think what shinn thinks "This guy does nothing but praise him, yet he annihilates him, what an asshole")
6. Attacks Destroy when Shinn had it "under control" (even though its not how WE see it, it is how Shinn does)

I mean, what good has Shinn seen Kira do (in his perspective)?

Stop thinking how cool Kira and such are, and start thinking how Shinn is thinking =P

This is my first post and I think I should reply anyway after reading, it's quite interesting~ I'm just bored. I signed up to reply.

I don't think Shinn is evil. He isn't , in a war when you lose someone dear to you, in Shinn's case, Stellar and his family, I think he was driven to the point of desperation to protect what he has which he shows through fighting. You really have to applaud his strong sense of justice. He is really like what Neo said as a "straightforward and determined kid" but I don't agree with the way he behaves and fights. That's probably why I dislike him. I never liked his attitude to begin with, it really rubs you in the wrong way. Even Rey said that he had a proble with his attitude. I don't like the fact that he and Rey exploited that Kira wouldn't kill him and 'strategized' against.

I thought it was despicable and low even though you have to emphasize with him after the death of Stellar. The only thing I cannot understand is why does he fight with the military since it was military conflict that brought the death of his family. It fuelled more hatred from him towards ORB but doesn't he realise that everytime he fought, he puts others in the same position as he was in when his family died? He had became just like the people who caused the death of his family.

Well, in the beginning he was pretty cool, now I think he is honestly a wreck and he needs to discover for himself why he is fighting and stop obeying orders from ZAFT like a military lap dog( I'm sure Dullindal is up to something). And he really should think before he opens his mouth. That would make some pretty good character development. Well, another 15 episodes. Well, actually I like him more that Kira in SEED, though Kira is a lot better in Destiny. Shinn is more passionate about his beliefs, less whiny. I was never a big fan of Shinn.

Yeah pretty much, Shinn will either develope and come to the understanding that he is simply causing for others what the military caused him, in loss.
Or he will simply never realise this, or realise it at the very end (in the scenario where he is completely insane till the end lol)
I like the character since its different from the usual plot where the "main character" never does anything significantly bad to look on as bad.
I mean Kira killed Nicol, but seriously who gave a rats ###### about Nicol, and kira wasnt in blood lust mode.
